Rachael McCuaig Original Song "Home" Music Video
04.25.17  Video
Sandia Mountain, NM

We first met Rachael through church. When we found out she is looking to pursue music as a career, we were ecstatic. Not only does she have one of the most mesmerizing voices, her heart behind her music is something to be admired. We brought up the idea of doing a video/photoshoot in the middle of a desert, and without hesitancy, Rachael was on board with the idea. So the adventure begins!

We stayed at a B&B/retreat center called Desert Harbor. It’s a beautiful, single casita retreat located in the middle of the Sandia Mountains. Raymond, the owner of Desert Harbor was super kind in allowing us to use his property for the video and photoshoot.

We’ve never done a music video before. We’ve never videographed and sound recorded with an iPhone for professional production before either! But we wanted to push our creative boundaries in creating this music video.

Rachael’s inspiration for the song came from a news article she was reading about the sad things that are happening in Syria. One in particular was about the children in Syria. A journalist had noted that the children weren’t crying anymore. Not out of optimism, but rather apathy. After reading about that, Rachael wrote this song.

We hope you enjoy this video. The lyrics to the song is located at the end of this blog post.

Lyrics:
One white bird sitting at my feet
He’s silent hes silent
All the time it seems
This land it has been withering
My frail hands my frail hands
On rotting trees

But oh may your peace flow
Through the dark tunnels
Of my soul again

The little ones don’t cry no more
They’re numb to their own pain
What have we done?

They look into their mother’s eyes
For answers, for something
They cannot not find

But oh may your peace flow
Through the dark rubble they called home
